Our Mother?

When we pray, we address God as He has instructed; Father.  Jesus addressed him as Father.  We cannot change the gender of God because we want to, or it makes us feel better to address God as mother or holy parent.  We do not determine the gender of God, He does.  Our prayers ought not be an attempt to make feminists feel more at ease with the bible, more accepting of God.  God is immutable, He cannot and will not change who He is or His name to be politically correct.  When we accept the salvation God offers us, we accept everything on His terms, including the essence of who He is.  Thank God He is eternally God the Father!

Nancy Leigh DeMoss addresses this issue in today's broadcast of Revive our Heart.

I totally agree with you, Belinda. Our Father is how He is addressed in the Bible, and our Father is how I will always address Him. His is sovereign and He changes NOT! The Bible is His Word, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing BUT the truth, so that is how it shall remain. People tend to change things to be more comfortable with it, but sine He is no respecter of persons, we must conform to HIM and his ways. Amen!
