Trillia Newbell's newest book,
Fear and Faith.
|
Spring 2013 my family traveled to Rockford, Illinois to fellowship with members of the Morning Star Church. For my daughters and me, it was also an opportunity to attend the Grace and Truth Conference for Women hosted by Morning Star. The conference always has speakers who are well grounded in the Word and share messages that encourage growth and encourages women to be ‘doers of the word and not hearers only’. This last conference featured a returning speaker, Holly Stratton, and three speakers who were new to us, among them Trilla Newbell. Trilla spoke at a previous Grace and Truth Conference but we had not attended. I listened to her message on the audio files posted later but this was my first time hearing her in person.
Since that time, I’ve kept up with Trillia’s speaking, and
writing of both blogs and books. She has
been on several panels where there were discussions about race issues and
diversity in the church. Trillia is not afraid to tackle difficult topics, with
gentility and strength she takes them on head-on. She challenges women especially to step
outside of our comfort zones and show hospitality and kindness to people of
backgrounds and ethnic groups different than our own.
In her new book, Fear
and Faith, Trillia addresses the issue of fear; fear of what the future
holds, fear of what people think etc.
She directs us to God’s Word where we will find truths to help us
overcome the fears we face by getting to know God better and placing our trust
in Him.
About
the Book
Failure,
loneliness, loss, rejection, unfulfilled dreams…there’s no shortage of things
to fear in life. Fear can feel like an unwelcomed, constant companion in life,
paralyzing your actions, damaging your relationships and hindering your faith.
Trillia
is no stranger or casual observer to fear. She has personally felt its powerful
grip on her life, but she’s also experienced a peace, trust and faith from One
strong enough to conquer those fears.
In
Fear and Faith, Trillia will encourage you with reflections on Scripture and
her own story. She will show you Jesus, who was tempted like you in every way,
including fear. She will show you the character of God and how it inspires
faith. And she will show you real women who have walked the road of fear—or are
still walking it—and how they found security in the Lord to be their strength.
Whatever it is that you fear, you are not alone, nor are you without hope from
the One who can replace your fear with faith in Him.
Beginning in September 8, Trillia invites women to
participate in a free online book study.
Here’s how it will work.
Trillia listed things you’ll need:
·
A copy of Fear
and Faith book
·

·
Your study group. The study can be done alone,
but if you have a group grab them and begin!
·
A day that works best for you.
Each Tuesday over
the next eleven weeks, Trillia will post supplemental and additional material
